Are you passionate about supporting people with severe and enduring mental health needs to live independently and thrive in their community? Do you enjoy building relationships from the ground up, having honest conversations and being a steady, authoritative presence when things feel challenging? If so, you could be just who we’re looking for.

As a Housing Enabler, you’ll work closely with customers living at our Wood Hayes Place and Saxon Court schemes, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. You’ll help customers to manage their tenancies, understand their responsibilities and develop the confidence and skills they need to maintain their homes and wellbeing.

What success looks like in this role

  • Success means being a calm, consistent and trusted presence across both schemes. You build strong, professional relationships from the ground up, balancing empathy with clear boundaries and authority. You don’t take behaviour personally and remain resilient, even when situations feel complex or emotionally demanding.
  • You work confidently with customers who have severe and enduring mental health needs, using your understanding of mental health to support positive outcomes while maintaining safety, dignity and accountability. You’re comfortable having honest, sometimes challenging conversations, and you’re tenacious in seeing things through.
  • You collaborate effectively with multi‑agency partners, bringing people together to solve problems and ensure customers receive joined‑up support. You manage your time well across two schemes, adapt to changing priorities, and bring steady leadership and sound judgement to everything you do.
  • Above all, you’re personable, flexible and committed to doing the right thing — helping customers feel supported, safe and empowered to move forward.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Has experience supporting people with severe and enduring mental health needs
  • Has experience of housing management within supported housing environments
  • Brings management or supervisory experience, with confidence in leading and supporting colleagues
  • Is resilient and able to maintain perspective, even in challenging situations
  • Can build trusting relationships from scratch and work effectively across two schemes
  • Understands and maintains clear professional boundaries
  • Has a good grasp of mental health and how it can impact behaviour and engagement
  • Is approachable, personable and tenacious, doing what it takes to achieve positive outcomes
  • Has experience of multi‑agency partnership working, including health and social care professionals
  • Is organised, flexible and comfortable managing a varied and demanding workload
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
  • Acts as a positive ambassador for Bromford Flagship LiveWest in the local community

If you’ve worked as a Housing Officer, Housing Support Worker, Scheme Manager, Housing Enabler or similar, and you’re motivated by helping people move forward at their own pace, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your application by Wednesday 12 August 2026.

We’re Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL), a place-based affordable housing provider supporting almost 300,000 customers across the southwest, central and east of England.

Our purpose is simple and honest: we invest in homes and relationships so that people can thrive. As the UK’s largest provider of new affordable homes, we deliver over 3,000 new homes each year—helping to meet growing demand and build stronger communities.

Why our work matters
The need for safe, affordable housing has never been greater. Rising costs, growing inequality and increasing homelessness are making it harder for people to buy or rent a home. Strong housing associations like BFL play a vital role in providing quality homes and creating opportunities for a better future.

Through place-based working, our teams build progress from the ground up. You’ll find us at the heart of the communities we serve—strengthening neighbourhood relationships, responding quickly to changing needs and planning for the long term.

We’re also a place where people can grow. We give our colleagues the tools and opportunities to build meaningful careers, develop future-ready skills and perform at their best, all within a supportive and inclusive culture guided by our values.

We’re a place for people determined to make a difference.

Bromford Flagship LiveWest. A place to make your own.

We’re proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work, thanks to our inclusive, values-driven culture. We know that diverse teams bring out the best in everyone, and we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.

We are a proud "Disability Confident" (Level 2) and Menopause Friendly employer and have signed the Armed Forces covenant to support those who serve.

We encourage people from all sections of our community to apply for jobs with us. Particularly, we welcome those who have been historically underrepresented in areas of our workforce including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Wherever possible, we offer flexible working arrangements to help you balance your work and personal life, alongside the tools, training, and opportunities you need to develop and succeed in your career.
