Help us create safer places for colleagues, customers and communities.

At Bromford Flagship LiveWest, safety is everyone's responsibility. As our Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in helping colleagues work safely, confidently and compliantly while delivering services that enable people and communities to thrive.

This is far more than a compliance role. You'll build trusted relationships with operational teams, provide practical guidance that makes a real difference, and help create a positive safety culture across a complex organisation that manages homes, communities and frontline services.

What you'll be doing

You'll work closely with managers and colleagues across the business, providing clear, practical and proportionate health and safety advice that supports effective decision-making and safe ways of working.

You'll:

  • Support managers with incident reporting, investigation and learning.
  • Assist with audits, inspections and assurance activities.
  • Help identify hazards and risks, supporting the implementation of practical control measures.
  • Provide guidance on health and safety legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Contribute to contractor management processes, including reviewing risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and permit-to-work arrangements.
  • Support the development of a positive and sustainable safety culture.
  • Help ensure health and safety arrangements are applied consistently across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to turn health and safety requirements into straightforward, workable solutions.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a good understanding of health and safety principles who enjoys building relationships, influencing others and helping people find practical solutions.

You'll bring:

  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Working towards, or committed to achieving, Tech IOSH membership
  • Experience applying health and safety principles within operational environments.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • An understanding of audits, inspections, risk management and incident investigation.
  • Awareness of contractor management processes and associated documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels.
  • A pragmatic and customer-focused approach to health and safety.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development and IOSH progression.
  • Full UK driving licence

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a large and ambitious organisation while helping to create safe environments for colleagues, customers and contractors.

You'll be supported to continue building your expertise, broaden your experience across housing, property, construction and corporate settings, and contribute to meaningful improvements that have a lasting impact on our people and communities.

We’re Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL), a place-based affordable housing provider supporting almost 300,000 customers across the southwest, central and east of England.

Our purpose is simple and honest: we invest in homes and relationships so that people can thrive. As the UK’s largest provider of new affordable homes, we deliver over 3,000 new homes each year—helping to meet growing demand and build stronger communities.

Why our work matters
The need for safe, affordable housing has never been greater. Rising costs, growing inequality and increasing homelessness are making it harder for people to buy or rent a home. Strong housing associations like BFL play a vital role in providing quality homes and creating opportunities for a better future.

Through place-based working, our teams build progress from the ground up. You’ll find us at the heart of the communities we serve—strengthening neighbourhood relationships, responding quickly to changing needs and planning for the long term.

We’re also a place where people can grow. We give our colleagues the tools and opportunities to build meaningful careers, develop future-ready skills and perform at their best, all within a supportive and inclusive culture guided by our values.

We’re a place for people determined to make a difference.

Bromford Flagship LiveWest. A place to make your own.

We’re proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work, thanks to our inclusive, values-driven culture. We know that diverse teams bring out the best in everyone, and we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.

We are a proud "Disability Confident" (Level 2) and Menopause Friendly employer and have signed the Armed Forces covenant to support those who serve.

We encourage people from all sections of our community to apply for jobs with us. Particularly, we welcome those who have been historically underrepresented in areas of our workforce including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Wherever possible, we offer flexible working arrangements to help you balance your work and personal life, alongside the tools, training, and opportunities you need to develop and succeed in your career.
