We are now seeking an exceptional leader to join us as Head of Operational Transformation & Commercial.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for leading, managing and supporting the delivery of transformation and commercial improvement activity across Service Delivery operations within BFL.
You will identify and assess commercial opportunities, develop and deliver programmes of work, and ensure the successful implementation and realisation of benefits. The role carries accountability for delivering and supporting transformation and commercial benefits of approximately £4 million during 2026/27.
Leading the Service Delivery Transformation & Value team, you will drive operational excellence, commercial performance and strategic change across a large-scale, customer-focused organisation.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Lead and develop the Service Delivery Transformation & Value team, delivering programmes of transformation and value while acting as business leads for technology-enabled change.
Identify opportunities to drive growth, efficiency and value across operational services.
Evaluate commercial opportunities across operations, leveraging organisational scale and demand to maximise value and drive efficiencies.
Work closely with procurement teams to optimise supply chains and improve commercial outcomes.
Lead programmes of insourcing and outsourcing activity, developing business cases, cost models and implementation plans.
Review and optimise fleet expenditure, including vehicles, fuel consumption and asset utilisation.
Analyse material spend and operational performance trends to inform smarter sourcing decisions, standardisation and specification improvements.
Drive productivity improvements, right-first-time performance and workforce efficiency.
Act as Business Lead for operational systems development and implementation, ensuring systems and data support commercial insight and operational decision-making.
Deliver and embed sustainable operational and commercial improvements, ensuring benefits are realised and measured.
Build strong relationships across the organisation to ensure successful programme delivery.
Influence and support operational leaders to embed commercial thinking and behaviours.
Own and manage a portfolio of transformation and commercial initiatives aligned to organisational priorities.
Report programme performance and outcomes to senior leadership, supporting future business planning and budget setting.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a commercially astute and transformational leader with a proven ability to deliver measurable results in complex operational environments.
Essential Experience
Demonstrable success delivering significant efficiency improvements and cost savings within operational or service delivery environments.
Experience leading large-scale transformation programmes from design through to implementation and benefit realisation.
Proven track record of delivering measurable ROI and achieving ambitious financial outcomes.
Experience leading high-value, business-critical programmes aligned to strategic objectives.
Strong experience identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and performance.
Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, including engagement at executive level.
Experience leveraging systems, data and technology to improve commercial and operational performance.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement strategy, contract management and risk analysis.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organisational objectives into practical delivery plans.
Strong programme leadership and governance experience.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capability.
Outstanding written communication skills, including business case and executive report writing.
Proven ability to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Strong influencing, negotiation and relationship management skills.
Experience using data, systems and digital tools to support performance improvement and commercial decision-making.
Qualifications
CIH Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience desirable.
Additional Requirements
Full UK driving licence.
Flexibility to travel across BFL operating regions as required.
